Robert Worby is a composer, writer and broadcaster. He is one of the regular presenters of Hear and Now, the main contemporary music programme on BBC Radio 3. He first met Karlheinz Stockhausen in 1997, at his home in Kürten, where they spent an afternoon discussing the idea that composing sounds in physical space is as important as composing pitches, durations, dynamics or timbre. Robert wrote all of the programme notes for Stockhausen when he appeared at the Elektronic Festival, at the Barbican Centre in 2001, and at the Frieze Music event in London in 2005. And when Stockhausen died in 2007 Robert broadcast the Radio 3 tribute with studio guest Dr Jerome Kohl.
