Jonty Harrison

Jonty Harrison (born 1952) studied at the University of York (DPhil in Composition, 1980). Between 1976 and 1980 he worked at the National Theatre and City University, London. In 1980 he joined the Music Department of the University of Birmingham, where he is Professor of Composition and Electroacoustic Music and Director of the Electroacoustic Music Studios and BEAST. He has won several international prizes (Bourges, Ars Electronica, Musica Nova) and been commissioned by leading organisations and performers. His music appears on three solo albums (empreintes DIGITALes, Montréal) and on several compilations (NMC; Mnémosyne Musique Média; CDCM/Centaur; Asphodel; EMF; Collins).
